The Philippines is now one of the biggest buyers of Chinese solar panels on the planet, and all that volume has been quietly pushing quotes down while Meralco pushes bills up. Here’s where installed prices actually sit as of mid-2026 — with the caveat that these move, so check the date on this page before arguing with an installer.

Two patterns explain most of the spread. Small systems cost more per kWp because the fixed stuff — permits, net-metering paperwork, crew day rates, the inverter minimum — gets divided by fewer panels. And Metro Manila installs run 10–15% above provincial ones. Labor, not hardware.
What a real quote should include
Panels, inverter, mounting, wiring and breakers, installation, and the net-metering application with the meter swap. That last one is where cheap quotes hide their corners. If “net metering assistance” isn’t written down, you’ll be chasing the paperwork yourself for weeks and paying the meter fee on top.
The panels are the cheap part
Counterintuitive but true: the 550–620 W panels installers use wholesale at a fraction of the installed price. The inverter is usually the second-biggest cost and the first thing to fail if someone skimped. So when a pitch leads with “cheapest panels in Cavite,” ask what inverter brand comes with it and how long its warranty runs. That question sorts installers fast.
Battery o hindi?
For Meralco-area homes with stable power, grid-tie without battery is the default answer: cheapest per kWp, fastest payback, and net metering turns the grid into your storage. Hybrids earn their keep where brownouts are a lifestyle — just know you’re paying roughly double per kWp for the privilege.
So what should you pay?
Depends entirely on your bill. Size first with the solar panel calculator — it applies these exact price ranges to your consumption — then collect two or three itemized quotes and compare them against the same math. An installer whose number lands inside the range earns the conversation. One who’s 40% above it had better have a very good roof story.
